historyThe Little Moorland pedigree herd was established by Adrian and Rachel Williams in Chapel Allerton, Somerset during 2002. Red Ruby Devon cattle are a traditional native British beef breed. Our herd can be seen grazing in fields on the edge of the Isle of Wedmore and on the surrounding Allerton Moor on the beautiful Somerset Levels, made famous by the ‘Pitchfork Rebellion’ of 1685 and overlooked by the historic 18th century Ashton Windmill.

family farmAll our cattle are born and reared on the family farm, grazing on natural pastures through springtime, summer and autumn, when their distinct ruby red colour can be seen contrasting against the green of these traditionally lush and tranquil meadows. In winter, the cattle are housed on the farm at Little Moorland and fed on 100% natural, home produced hay and silage, without the use of concentrates or additives. animal welfareOur animals are matured and finished in an environment that meets the best conditions of animal care and welfare, without stress. Finished cattle are taken to a local abattoir, eliminating animal stress, excessive animal transportation and food miles. tender full flavoured beefBeef from Ruby Red Devon cattle is noted for its tenderness, being well marbled and full flavoured. Our meat is hung for a minimum of 3 weeks, reducing the water content and producing the darker colour expected and much sought after in traditionally produced meat. This, along with the marbling, produces the full flavour and tenderness that makes our Little Moorland Red Ruby Devon beef so popular. Please upgrade to the latest version of Flash Player.
