As well as home to the Little Moorland Herd, we are the location of Allerton Post Office and Country Store, offering local produce, alongside our Red Ruby Devon Beef, famed pork sausages from our native Berkshires and home grown seasonal vegetables.

Our approach is to provide, where possible, local produce with minimal food miles and carbon footprint; supporting local food producers around us in Somerset and the West Country.

Our recipe collection, as it develops, is based on our Ruby Red Devon Beef and local ingredients from our suppliers and other outlets.

little moorland pedigree herd

Red Ruby Devon cattle are a native British beef breed. The Little Moorland pedigree herd was established in Chapel Allerton, Somerset during 2002, grazing in fields on the edge of the Isle of Wedmore and surrounding Allerton Moor on the beautiful Somerset Levels. Our herd’s distinct ruby red colour contrasts with the green of the lush and tranquil meadows, overlooked by the historic 18th century Ashton Windmill.

We were featured in the Eat Local section of the Cheddar Valley Gazette in January, along with one of the recipes from this site.
