little moorland pedigree herdRed Ruby Devon cattle are a native British beef breed. The Little Moorland pedigree herd was established in Chapel Allerton, Somerset during 2002, grazing in fields on the edge of the Isle of Wedmore and surrounding Allerton Moor on the beautiful Somerset Levels. Our herd’s distinct ruby red colour contrasts with the green of the lush and tranquil meadows, overlooked by the historic 18th century Ashton Windmill. We were featured in the Eat Local section of the Cheddar Valley Gazette in January, along with one of the recipes from this site. testimonial"With 90 guests attending my Charity Day Dinner, I wanted to source the best of local produce. So Little Moorland Red Ruby Devon beef was my natural choice. With 25 kg of fantastic sirloin and a similar quantity of cooked hams, we were not disappointed. The meat was first class and Rachel and Adrian are so friendly and helpful, a real local asset." Our meat is hung for a minimum of 3 weeks, reducing the water content and producing the darker colour expected and much sought after in traditionally naturally produced meat. This, along with the marbling, produces the full flavour and tenderness that makes Little Moorland Red Ruby Devon beef so popular. |
